Hi I wanted to email the ride-it team to ask about getting hold of memory maps for areas as I would love to get a map for the windsor/ ascot region or an early copy o fhte Cliddesden map so I can do some of the rides near me now. don't worry have loved your events in the past and will continue to do ride it events coming up but I'm sure you must have covered surrey region in the past and so would love some good route ideas for my area.

many thanks

also is there no email address for the ride-it team? i have scoured your website to no avail

Hi, again using this medium as I can't find an email address for the ride-it team. Just wanted to pass on my thanks for todays ride at Cliddesden. It was a really nice day out for both myself and my 8 year old son who completed the 30 mile ride. (we had a couple of hills that he struggled with but he got a little help from me running up them pushing him on his bike and my bike in the other hand!)
Anyway thanks very much from Callum and Leigh Pateman

Hi
Does anyone know if the off road bike it rides are technical or not? I'd like nice simple briddle paths not singletrack.
thanks

All our off road routes use bridle ways (i.e. public rights of way) but they can contain technical elements. Is does depend to a great extend on the venue. For example Dorking is fairly technical where as Hatfield is one of our flattest routes.

Which venue are you interested in riding?

Hi Tony

I was thinking about
Woking
Milton Keynes
Great Missenden
Biggin Hill
Hatfield

thanks!

Our routes do change each year, but based on previous routes I would go for Woking, Milton Keynes & Hatfield.
Obviously, even simple bridle ways can be a bit of a pain (muddy)if there has been a lot of rain recently.

If you enquire the week before any event we will be better placed to advise you on the conditions of the routes.

Cheers

Hi there - Tony (the guy who was manning the drinks station on sunday's ride in Milton Keynes) kindly gave me a spare tyre and I need to get £20 to him. Any idea how I can hold of him? My registration number was 113 on the Medium course - perhaps someone can email me? Thanks.

Is this the same Tony??!?

I'm looking at doing one of the short events this weekend with my 8 yr old son. I've done an 11 miler with him recently. I think this will be a challenge for him, but he is up for it.

Have you had any entrants at this age before?

Also, do you get anything at the aend? Certificate or something - it would be great if he got something to show his efforts..

One more thing, do these rides use the electronic checkpoint system to show you've completed the course?

Thanks,
Kris

Hi.

The short ride at Dorking will be a fairly hard one for an 8 year old. It's quite hilly and sandy trails. Obviously if he's up for a challenge then that's no problem. I would ask that you start earlier rather than later as we have to remove the course after the last rider.

We don't give anything to riders after the ride and I'm too busy at the moment to knock something up. If Tony or Mark want to do this then fine, but I can't promise anything.

We use electronic timing but not checkpoints. You are timed out and back in only.

Thanks
Dean

Hi, using this as I can't find any contact info on the site for the ride it team. Reading prev comments it seems I'm not the only one.

I'm booked in to ride the long route on 4th July, but there is still no long route info a.t. a.l.l. on the site. 2 Days to go. A gpx file , if it arrives, won't be any use to me as I dont use gps gadgets. Are we going to get a map posted, posted on the site or perhaps on the day ?

Hi Anon.

As in previos posts:-

GPX routes are published on Friday before the event ( As stated in the GPX section of the blog on the right ) These are no published until the route has been marked out.

You get a map on the day as stated here:-

http://www.evanscycles.com/ride-it/faq

Under "Can I get a map before the day"

Other Map referances:-

http://www.evanscycles.com/ride-it/how-does-it-work

See "FREE MAP" referances

Here:-

http://www.evanscycles.com/ride-it/peak-district-3rd-4th-july-2010

Under "Event Map and Gps download"

But to clarify again.

We do not confirm the routes until we have ridden them and put out the course. If there is a problem or a road closure and we have to divert or change the maps then anything we have published or sent out is obsolete.

You will, as stated in the links above, recieve an OS map at the start of the ride. For a general overview of the Medium routes there is a Google Earth map on the event page which you can zoom in on.

Thanks
Dean

Hi there,

Just a quick note - the Amersham Road cycling club are holding a 10 mile time trial on the HCC180 course right through the middle of the RideIt path.

It is starting at 9:00am, it might be worth mentioning this to those participating in the RideIt to bare this in mind on the roundabouts.

Thanks and enjoy the event!
