Demo Bikes

Just a quick note to say that Jon is also on Holiday until the 4th of Jan so there will be no demo bike bookings taken until then.

He will get back to you upon his return.

That's all folks......

Well for this year anyway.

We've had an amazing 2009, better than we'd hoped for.

Just a few figures for you.

Total entries for the year come in at 10,102 and the events are getting bigger!

Gore clothing. We've loaned out 842 items of clothing. Nearly a third of this figure is from the last 4 events which just shows what sort of weather we've been having.

Maps. Generally we produce one double sided map per day, so 2 maps per weekend equals 4 full colour photocopies which equates to 40,408 copies! All printed on Toughprint waterproof paper.

New photocopiers - 1

SIS bars and gels, 12,000

Demo bikes loaned out (since May) - 298

Dodgy pints of Cider drunk -10

Days lost due to dodgy pints of cider - 1

I'm off now until the 4th of Jan 2010, so :-

Happy Christmas from all of the Ride It team.

We'll see you in 2010

Dean

Dorking light winner

Another plug for our night series.....

If you ride with us for the last night ride at Chieveley on the 9th of Jan you will automatically get entered into a draw for an Exposure Joystick.

Well done to Mr Sharp who is now the owner of one of these fantastic lights having ridden at Dorking.

If you'd like to try out an Exposure light at Chieveley then we have 22 demo lights, all available from the web page. They cost £10 but you get this back in a voucher to spend against any light.

Here's the links to rider times from last weekend's Dorking event -

Dorking Road Rider Times

That's our last event for 2009 so it's going to be a bit quiet round here for a while. We're all off to have a few weeks rest as we've got a busy 2010 planned, starting with our first event of the new year in Chieveley on the 9th January.

Dorking GPX Files

It looks like there's been a bit of a mix up with the medium road gpx file, in that it's actually the medium off road route.

I don't have the right file as it's on Dean's laptop and he's out checking the off road night course.

We'll fix it tomorrow so you can download it in time for Sunday's road ride.

UPDATE - Should now be fixed

Dorking Off Road

Looks like we were lucky with the weather today for marking out the route, as for the trail conditions, guess what, it's a bit muddy :-)

Most of the route seemed rideable today although rain is forecast tonight and after a few riders have gone through you guys are probably going to have it tougher than we did today. We did decide to change the end of the route to avoid some of the worse mud (where they've been doing tree felling) but that still leaves a tough final muddy climb back up to Ranmore Common to finish the medium and long routes.

There's also a lot of leaf cover on the ground which does make it slippery as well as hiding things like tree roots on some of the descents so just take it easy and stay in control.

If you fancy a bit of night riding remember there is a night ride option this weekend as well.

GPX route files are now available to download over on the right hand side of the blog.

Dorking Road Ride Preview

We've been out today finalising the route for Sunday's road ride, the route is kind of like a mini King of the Downs in that it takes in a handful of the same climbs (including Box Hill, Leith Hill, Coombe Bottom and Ranmore Common) so it's definately not flat and makes for a fairly tough ride if your planning to complete the full route.

Despite all the rain the road conditions seem pretty good although there's a lot of standing water at the moment so a bit of caution is needed on some of the faster descents.

I know it's childish, but I couldn't help a little smile as I rode past...
